The New Mexico BreezeTM
Beginnings and Mission Statement
The founders of The New Mexico BreezeTM realized through other activities that real news was
not reaching the majority of New Mexicans through existing media
channels. They watched in dismay as key investigative reporters
were demoted or let go by media owners for reporting the truth.
They desired to create a publication that:
1. better informed readers regarding politics and
current events with behind-the-scenes information, and
2. provided positive news about the state,
leaving readers with a sense of pride as New Mexicans.
Leslie Cumiford, Editor and co-founder of
The New Mexico
BreezeTM, is an Industrial
Engineer and consultant with a wide background of experience from
Artificial Intelligence research to basic manufacturing and
information system analysis. She has owned several businesses in
the past and held a number of national and local offices, including
President of the New Mexico Entrepreneurs' Association.
From the famed Lawn of Thomas Jefferson's
University of Virginia can be seen the inscribed words, "You will
know the truth, and the truth will set you free." This quote, from
John 8:32 in the Bible, is The New Mexico Breeze's mission
statement. As The New Mexico BreezeTM's byline states, the paper aims to build a better New
Mexico through the power of informed citizens.
Finally, the founders believe that building a
better community is not a government task, nor is it something that
happens by accident. May The Breeze serve as a tool to unite New
Mexicans to strengthen the community by reaching out to those in
need. The Community Transformation column will highlight these
efforts.
The
New Mexico BreezeTM,
LLC is a Christian business and as such follows Biblical
principles in organization, corporate meetings, decision making,
finances, and employee practices. The founders' hope is, however,
that persons of all walks of life will find The Breeze to be an
informative tool, assisting them to stay informed and to serve as
contributing citizens in their communities. Reader input is
encouraged. Enjoy The Breeze!
